On 14/05/2019 at 08:45 am, Kyle skippered the AB Marine Vessel and excited Guests on a Whale and Dolphin spotting trip to Cape Recife, leaving from PEDSAC at 08:45 am.
Today was a special trip. We started the conversation with Bea last year who wanted a special trip with a lifelong friend. Of course the pressure was on to make this special. Bea and Martine have been travelling across the country seeing the wildlife of South Africa and share a special affinity for cetaceans.
Tuesday morning was one of the better days in this week to go (this coming weekend, especially Sunday look so much better).
We exited the Port and turned towards Cape Recife hoping to spot the large pod of Bottlenose that have been hugging the Summerstrand beachfront for a few days. And yes, we were in luck as hundreds of Bottlenose cruised up and down from opposite Blue Bay Guest-house along the coast to Bird Rock. After spending some time with them we headed out.
Building seas made it a bit unpleasant to leave the Bay so we turned back to head along the coastline and maybe spot the Bottlenose who didn’t disappoint and stayed with us all the way to the Port entrance.
An emotional trip for our guests who were enthralled and handed hugs out as they bid us farewell.
The following cetaceans were spotted:

---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
09h30 | 33.59.28 | 25.40.661 | BOT | 500 | Swimming |
