Rainer and Carlo

If needed we go up in the air to find Whales!

On 05/02/2019 at 12:15 pm, Rainer skippered the Expert Tours Vessel and excited Guests on a Whale and Dolphin spotting trip to St Croix, leaving from PEDSAC at 12:15 pm. After a quick morning trip in a light aircraft to spot bait balls, whales and dolphins we left the Port of Port Elizabeth to the area off St Croix where we had first spotted activity. On board was a team from the German Magazine, GEO, along with two other guests (GEO is a family of educational monthly magazines similar to the National Geographic magazine. It is known for its detailed reports and pictures). A fast ride out to St Croix and we spotted diving birds with tell …

It was as if the Common Dolphins swapped with the Bottlenose

On 24/01/2019 at 09:30 am, Kyle skippered the AB Marine Vessel and excited Guests on a Whale and Dolphin spotting trip to St Croix. Almost a repeat of our earlier trip this morning, except the Common Dolphins were replaced by Bottlenose Dolphins. Our Guests were enthralled with the Bottlenose Dolphins who swam next to the vessel for the better part of half an hour. When given the choice to return to St Croix for a closer look at the penguins our Guests elected to rather stay with the magical Bottlenose Dolphin pod for as long as they could. So special to share these moments with awesome guests. The following was …

AB Marine were host to a number of international Marine Scientists attending a conference at the Nelson Mandela University. We organised a special trip for these guests as they had to be back at NMU for a 9:00 am start. Our early morning motoring out into a beautiful African Sunrise and Algoa Bay didn't disappoint with a huge pod of Common Dolphins, Bait Ball, Brydes Whales and huge rafts of Jackass Penguins feeding. The following was spotted: Time Latitude Longitude Species …

Sarah

On Thursday 24 January, Sarah joined AB Marine on a Whale and Dolphin Watching Tour: Sarah says: It’s quite a strange experience at first at 5:30 in the morning... you step out onto the boat, with all your anticipation and excitement. And the sea is still, and a painful silence of the ocean just waking up as you are makes you wonder if you’ll actually see anything. And then from nowhere, one dolphin, five dolphins, 10 dolphins and then what seem to be hundreds encompass you and bring company of birds chasing after the pod for fish and variety of marine wildlife literally underneath your feet. Kind of like the quiet before the …
