1856: Timor, this wooden sailing barque wrecked in a south-easterly gale between Robben Island and Whale Rock in Table Bay in the Western Cape. Timor was a Dutch barque of 441 tons under the command of Captain F. Agema. She missed stays during a south wind whilst on her voyage from Batavia with a cargo of coffee and tin blocks. By 10 January 1857 112 blocks of tin had been recovered from the wreck.
1894: Bonanza, this American wooden sailing barque of 1 356 tons was wrecked on Orient Beach in East London in the Eastern Cape after having lost steerage and becoming unmanageable whilst entering the Buffalo River. Bonanza was built by W. Rogers, Bath, Maine, owned by Puget Sound Commercial Co. and commanded by Captain W.F. Stetson. Most of her cargo was saved.
1933: Swan, this wooden steam-powered and auxiliary sailing fishing vessel wrecked at Margate Ridge at Margate in KwaZulu-Natal.
