On 09/08/2018, Alan Straton joined Algoa Bay Marine on a Whale and Dolphin Watching Tour:
Alan Straton says:
I have been on a number of trips with Algoa Bay Marine and the one on 9 August was one of the Top TWO most special. A cold day greeted us as we left the Port of Gqeberha and ventured out into Algoa Bay in search of the migrating Brydes Whales. Little did we realise that we would experience an extremely close encounter with two whales of a different kind…
Just as the vessel began leaving the confines of the Bay we spotted whales blowing, then whale footprints and then a family of Humpback Whales. Two of who surfaced right next to the boat and indulged in a spot of spy hopping to the delight of all onboard – a really special moment.
And then, on our trip back to the Port we spotted a small pod of the elusive Humpback Dolphin – making our trip DOUBLY special much to the delight of all on Woman’s Day.
Rainer and Kyle were pleasant and knowledgeable which made the trip so much better.
