Marine Guiding Internships with Algoa Bay Marine

Find our unique internship that matches your interests in social responsibility, adventure, marine life and practical training with internationally accepted certificates that offers you a chance to expand your horizons.

Algoa Bay Marine Charters is based in Walmer – Gqeberha, South Africa.

Our diverse Marine Tours will introduce you to the Marine Big 5 (whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins) and ensure great opportunity for memorable pictures.

An on board Nature Guide Instructor educates guests about the amazing animals that visit the shores every year.

Your Internship of 4 or 8 weeks can consist of the following basic adventures, learnerships and training. Encounters with Whales and Dolphins and Sharks are guaranteed.

4 Week (30 days) program Includes:

  • Accommodation / Dorm / Food
  • Overall introduction by Instructor
  • Specialities about Algoa Bay
  • Introduction of social components and responsibility
  • Get to know area and training facilities at Masifunde Buildings
  • Comet ground level Marine Course introduction
  • Get login codes for your Marine Training course
  • 20 days practical experience (here you will learn about the marine world and the marine mammals in and around Algoa Bay, practical training of Vessel safety and procedures, experience tourist handling

8 Week (60 days) program Includes:

  • Accommodation / Dorm / Food
  • Overall introduction by Instructor
  • Specialities about Algoa Bay
  • Introduction of social components and responsibility
  • Get to know area and training facilities at Masifunde Buildings
  • Comet level NQF2 Marine Course
  • Get login codes for your Marine Training course
  • 1st Aid at sea
  • Orientation Course Ship skills
  • 40 days practical experience (here you will learn about the marine world and the marine mammals in and around Algoa Bay, practical training of Vessel safety and procedures, experience tourist handling

Additional options:

  • 0-Hero Dive program start diving and become a Dive Master during your stay (minimum 8 weeks)
  • Become a commercial skipper “B” rating (minimum 8 weeks)
